June 2009 - Mathematics Level 2

permutations - order DOES matter
combinations - order does NOT matter

juniors and seniors you had to nCr the juniors then the seniors then multiply the values. It was 850 (or something like that)

So we use combinations and get 840?

yes i got sumthing liek that kiruyama

it was -1-2i

my easy way:

10th: -2+i
11th: i(-2 + i)) = (-2i + i^2)
12th: i(-2i + i^2) = (-2i^2 + i^3)
99th: i(-2i^88 + i^89)=(-2i^89 + i^90)

stick dat in mah calculator, ba da bing ba da bang, jizzed in mah pants

I put the largest one for juniors and seniors, which I don’t remember now. I actually don’t remember most.

Can anyone give me a ballpark of what kind of score to expect with 8 omits and 2-3 wrong?

PAINT CONFIRMATION:

rectangular container with (L,W,H) (18,15,8) …everything painted EXCEPT FLOOR

therefore, it is

ONE(1815) + 2(158)+2(188) = 798

row triangle: 201
exp regression: 24
x^2-y^2=72: -12
f(g(x))=x: 1/x
reflection problem: -f(-x)
f(x+3): e^x
pentagon prism: 15 edges
movie q: n= x/(.6d)
boxplot: 50%
counterexample: 15
complex numbers: -1-2i
tree answer: 54 something
paint: 798

what was the answer for the probability of sum of 2 number that is greater than 100?
1,5,10,100…
i was getting 1/4=.25
so i omitted it

I got .33 10char

What were our opinions on the overall difficulty of this test? I thought it was moderate after using barrons to prep.

nd for the tree one…
we had to add 6 after we get the number by using sin formular… rite?

I got a half, 6 possible 101,105,110, 6,15,11 3 are over 100

Confirms
similar triangles:
Ratio of side lengths is 3:2 angle is 42 degrees. Should work out to 7.04, closest answer is 7.1

The graph with g(x) above f(x) is g(x)-f(x)>0

juniors and seniors:
(6C2)(8C3)=840

Well for the tree one you could just use the ratio of tan…
the 1,5,10,100 thingy was 50% chance.

I got .50

1, 5, 10, 100

1 + 5
1 + 10
1 + 100
5 + 10
5 + 100
10 + 100

6 possibilities, 3 are over 100? That’s how I reasoned it anyway… I’m not exactly a math expert so feel free to rip that solution apart.

I still thought it wasn’t that easy after using Barron’s (although, I never finished Barron’s b/c it ****ed me off)

Whoa, I didn’t know CC did that. I didn’t use the F word for the record ^

Yeah, .5 makes sense, I put different order but I guess that doesn’t matter.

People who are experienced with the curves… 8 omits 3 wrong = ??

i got .5, 10char

@shizzle, you put the urinate word right? the f-word made no sense there.
