June 2010 SAT Results Thread

800 on the math, just got my score today. But, I am a tutor, and have a graduate degree in math.

I decided last minute to take it, studying only a few hours over a week, and I didn’t take a practice test. I just worked some problems from an old copy of the Kaplan Procrastinator’s Guide to the SAT and the sections on gridding answers and they helped.

That curve is harsh. Ouch.

^ I’m just curious: what did you get on the rest of the test?

CR - 740
W - 640

Disclaimer: I wasn’t trying especially hard to do as well on those sections, as I specialize in Math only. I didn’t know that I couldn’t take just the Math SAT until the test!

2250 overall
740 CR
760 M (darn one question…)
750 W

@mathemagician- im confuzzled…u have a grad. degree in math? what r u doing still taking the sat?

^ Probably to stay fresh for tutoring.

Oh… the SAT seems kind of like a weird choice though, I mean, youd think that a grad degree would make u qualified enough that an 800 SAT isnt gonna show much more…

I got a 400/2400… how in the world does that happen???

You mean a 2400?

^^That’s not possible.

I just called in to ask about it… they said it was a typo… I got a … 2500???

wth?

^It doesn’t. It’s literally not possible to get lower than a 600/2400 if you wrote your name correctly.

interesting… post back when u find out what happened :)

CR chart is incorrect, I believe.

D’s score: (-4) 63 - 760

Did others find Direct Hits 1&2 covered this test’s words. D felt it did not. She missed 3 difficult sentence completion questions.

^ Did your daughter omit any questions on CR? As for Direct Hits, I did hear that it did not fare as well as it usually does.

no omits, 4 wrong, 16+47=63, not intl.

It helps to know she didn’t blow DH. We recommended to others and feel kind of badly.

I’m researching to help her decide if she should take SAT one more time. Three times Junior year with concentration on bringing up Math:
Oct 09 730CR, 600M, 750W
Jan 10 720CR, 680M, 770W
June 10 760CR, 740M, 800W

Thinking she should send scores now to colleges to which she plans to apply then possibly try one more time without sending anywhere. (Has a very good reason.)

getalifemom,

If she gets four wrong, the deduction for wrong answers would result in a raw score of 62.

Ok - makes sense now.

I don’t know what happened to me during this test. I had been scoring between 2200 and 2300 (assuming an essay score of 8) on the released SAT tests before the June test. However, I only got a 2000 on the June test with my writing and reading scores significantly lower than usual. sigh… what might go wrong? I have been really depressed since June 24…
