***JUNE 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

Oh wait lol just kidding false alarm. It does say it is C…I was looking at the wrong question :expressionless:

Hahahah alright. That’s always better than being confused.

Here is a great link for a brief overview of ACT Grammar: http://www.thecriticalreader.com/complete-act-punctuation-rules/ It really helped me!

What are some good websites for math? I’ve done most of the problems on the official tests I found online.

if you’re going to be a senior, this is the absolute last time we can take it right probably? before we need to start applying for college or is there one more ?

There is both a Sept and Oct test, though the Oct scores will be barely out before most ED deadlines.

Don’t worry, there are still tests in september, october and december i think…?

I have barely studied this week. I’m so not prepared for the test.

What to do the day before the test?

@moonwalk83 Study

Ok

Relax! Meditate, do some yoga, get a massage, go to the gym, hang out with friends, and/or go to bed early. Don’t spend too much time in front of the TV, computer or your phone. Give your mind a chance to shut off and relax.

@madmik you don’t need to memorize volume or surface area formulas for the more complex three dimensional shapes. Generally they provide the formula within the problem, and you have to figure out which pieces of information are provided and what you have to solve for.

@aplangq One way to speed up your reading is to look for line references in the questions first. Then underline or bracket those lines and write the questions number in the margins. Then, read the passage quickly, focusing on comprehension only where you underlined. A little bit of advance annotation will actually save you a lot of time and energy!

@Gyangdae If the last 10 questions are where you struggle, have you thought about starting at the end and working toward the beginning? Those questions also tend to involve multiple steps and incorporate several math topics instead of isolating them like the first 30-40 questions. For example, you might have to use special triangles to find the diagonal of a square, then an area or volume formula to get the actual answer. Or, you might have to use distance formula to find the length of a line, then an area formula to find the area of a circle in the coordinate plane. So if you prepare yourself for more complexity, and start at the end, you might find yourself less anxious and stressed.

Can someone please explain to me questions 35-40 on the science section for the April 2015 ACT?

@0br0123 is the April 2015 test online anywhere?

I just got beyond sick, and Im having such a hard time focusing, but I want to take the test before they change it. Any advice?

Hey! I took the April ACT and got a composite score of 30. I took two practice tests prior to taking the April Exam but am taking it the second time tomorrow. The thing is I didn’t get anytime to study this week so I am studying today…and want to go over Barron’s ACT 36 and one practice exam from the Real ACT prep guide. Will this be enough??

Is is possible to increase my score to a 33 without hardcore studying?

@Upenngirl98 I would say that it’s possible but it depends on your mistakes. For me, I also scored a 30 in April but when I ordered the test information release, I was disgusted at how stupid my mistakes were, and I’m pretty sure I can go 33-34 even with little studying. I think you also have a good shot even with little studying. Good luck to us both!
