***June 2016 ACT Discussion Thread***

Waiting on results is very stressful it is giving me tension headache…UGH… :-t

@pcaornkqeurest ooh, interesting to see that as the math curve. Thanks for sharing. Of course the curve for the trig and advanced algebra sections could be -1 = 16, but that still means at least -2 is 35. I thought it was the easiest math I’ve ever done, so it looks like I might be able to expect a decent score. :slight_smile:

@pcaornkqeurest - that’s surprising. My DD has 18, 18, 16 and a total score of 34 on Math. How can you score a 18, 16, 16 and still get 35?

@OHToCollege

That would indicate that missing 1 question will move you down to a 35, however you can miss 2 questions and still have a 35.

Your daughter can explain it, she is apparently awesome at math! :slight_smile:

@CATDECAL, my head’s spinning! If @pcaornkqeurest and my DD took the same test (I am assuming this is the case) and if my DD has a higher subscores, how can she have a lower total Math score? I can understand if tests were different, ACT would need to scale that specific test to earlier test of same/comparable difficulty.

In her previous test in February 2016, her subscores were 18, 18, 18 and she has an scaled math score of 36.

@OHToCollege

Sorry, I misread the original comment. I didn’t see the part where his score was higher than your daughter’s. I thought they had the same score.

I’d say at this point it is likely that one of you is just mistaken about the scores! If it isn’t you, it must be him. :slight_smile:

Either that, or as you say, you likely took different tests. That happens for a variety of reasons, which I can explain if you really really want me to.

That you took different tests is the most likely of reasons.

let the wait begin #part2… please God let me be tested

@jruesmith7 how i feel… :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

@OHToCollege which section was your 16 on? Mine were on the geometry sections, and it may be the case tha a) the scale for the geometry subscores was particularly harsh and/or b) there are more algebra questions than anything else, so if her 16 was algebra, it could represent a larger portion of their test. Otherwise, we may have just had different test forms… The sub-scoring is different from the composite, as different forms have more/less questions pertaining to a specific topic. Hope this helps! These people dont really make mistakes, so i would worry about an ACT error - more than likely a result of their convoluted statistics game

same here @jruesmith7 and @User19205234

@pcaornkqeurest, yes 16 in the geometry, so you and my daughter must have taken different tests. Upon further search, I am finding out that even within same test center, students may receive different tests. That makes sense.

In reading, S got a 17 and an 18, which indicates that he got one wrong, but his score was 34. Does anyone know if there are other parts of reading considered as part of the score that would explain this? Or is it just the harsh scale others referred to previously.

@jmek15, ditto for DD. 17/18 reading subscores with 34 total.

Anyone ‘tested’ for the next batch of scores? I really want mine tomorrow. I just cannot tolerate the wait any longer. :frowning:

@jmek15 My D also had a 17 and 18 in reading and also had a 34 – The upside was that it must have been an easy reading section but the curve was killer for one possibly dumb mistake.

Has anyone’s status updates to tested yet?

Also, someone’s phone in my test center went off, so would that delay my scores?

@DLithium

Last go round, nobody reported switching to “tested” in advance of the next batch of scores coming out on Friday. Also the Friday batch was TINY, and came out between 8 and 9 AM central.

I’m hope we get our scores, but I’m not holding my breath!

@CATDECAL how did you guys know the batch was tiny? everyone just reported not getting their scores? If its like that again will we likely get our scores back on Wednesday… or will we have to wait a really long time? :frowning:

@User19205234

I just based that off the responses in the thread last time. My daughter didn’t get hers for a long time, so I was in that thread pretty much every day while I was waiting!

Anyone know if a delay could occur because you send your scores to schools?
