no no, that’s not the point. We just have connections. Besides, Harvard looks at each school individually so if you’re tops at up ur school, you’re fine. Unfortunately, I’m not. That’s why I posted this thread in the first place.

Taken one at a time:

If you did not post a “what are my chances” thread for constructive criticism and feedback, then what did you do it for? I think my hypothesis was correct.

I am not at all jealous of you. I have already been accepted early decision to college. I have no need to wail at you to feel better about myself.

I don’t understand why you mention your friends. It’s good that they support you. I support you, as I’ve written countless times. I really do hope you get into an Ivy league school. It’s only your self-indulgent attitude that gnaws on me.

Now, we’ve already determined that you aren’t a credible judge of yourself. Nobody is. Why must you go on citing your own opinion as evidence that you’re not overconfident. You cannot be at all overconfident without it being detrimental to you in the long run. I’m not trying make you a cynic, I’m just trying to ground your ego so you come across better to others. I’m sure you’re a civil human being, but on message boards, that can be difficult to convey. I suggest you work at that (unless you consider yourself above the criticism of others).

@i_lose: I realize that schools have varying GPA systems, but all colleges use the 4.0 scale (and then weight them to suit their own expectations). Just as we speak English on this board, we use a universally recognized grade scale. Not everyone speaks English, and English is not necessarily better than the other languages, but it is the lingua franca. If you do not use it, you had best learn to so you can communicate with others effectively. The same goes for the 4.0 GPA scale.

I must comment,
“ppl”, “u”, “ur”

"If you don’t know what an honors curriculum is, your school sucks. Regular classes at my school are as challenging as honors classes elsewhere "

You idiot. Your school must not teach you that it’s rude to use internet lingo on a message board (neophyte :o-quemadura). Please, come back and argue about your curriculum once you take a keyboarding class (obviously your intelligence is completely surface - let them teach you to type in big words like “people” and “your”)

i’m so bored.

interesting post
first of all, let’s get this straight…boston latin school does not accept ~40 students a year…who are you kidding? it accepts 20 at most, and this year harvard has reduced relations with boston latin school after other schools filing complaints, which is why only 5 or 6 got in early, as opposed to the usual 12. don’t expect more than 15 kids this year…
second, what are those bogus activities you speak of? You’re not an alto singer in gospel choir…heck, you’re not even in gospel choir…whats the red cross staff? there exists no such thing…wow…look guys! I’m SECRETARY and TREASURER of the SAT PREP Club!! Woohoo!
third, don’t brag about your great SAT score until you actually take the sat1…and where’s your world history AP score? (assuming you didn’t fail). your sat2 scores aren’t very impressive either…a mediocre 700 in latin is your highest, and 2 650’s and 1 700 won’t get you into an IVY
fourth, you don’t even need to mention National Honor Roll, Who’s Who, and the various small school awards (Modern, Fidelity) won’t cut it. NYLF isn’t prestigious at all…actually a lot of your awards aren’t…

but…don’t mind me…thats just my two cents. bls isn’t all that great, and it doesnt give a significant advantage to anyone. the “honors” curriculum is totally bogus; it’s no more difficult than the regular classes at other schools…harvard doesn’t judge the students and compare them to BLS kids, harvard compares them to the national pool…wouldn’t be surprised to see you get rejected

on a final note, good luck on your college endeavors! wish you well!

alot of your stuff is bogus… why mention some of the stuff if you konw it’s a scam???

and harvard does not accept 40 kids from bls every year, max is 20ish… i should konw i graduated last year… do you do this to make other people feel bad.? peopel with 2.4 gpa? what about blind people? they can’t see? do they not deserve to go to harvard?

Some abuse being anonymous. Have some dignity, jeesh. I hope this otherwise constructive thread remains “alive” despite the flames.

Now, about Harvard: I know of at least 5 students who were accepted early-decision this year from my school. According to anonymous coward, et al, this is comparable to BLS. Is that so?
