Junior year stress

i play lacrosse & go to the gym.
and shop. shop a lot. probably too much. but it’s a good way to deal with stress :]
also: go to parties, hang with friends, go to concerts, take a trip, etc.
if you have something to look forward to every weekend, then you’re more likely to work harder and go through the week.

I’m a senior now, and I honestly don’t remember being stressed out junior year – except maybe the week before AP exams. I remember that I kept waiting for the stress to arise, but it never did. But then again, I tend to handle stress pretty well.

My suggestion is to remember to keep things in perspective and have a good time. Be active socially – don’t burden yourself with so much that you can’t hang out with your friends on a regular basis. Once you hit your senior year you’re going to regret not spending time with them.

I’m stressed out right now. From the moment I woke up on friday morning untill Monday. Tasp interview notifications come out!

Personally, I think that senior year is more stressful than junior year. I can remember thinking last year that senior couldn’t be worse than junior year (workload and stress-wise)…well, it is. But that’s just in my case.

Like i said before, senior year is hell, especially if you an IB diploma candiate, junior year the least amount of sleep i got was 2 or 3 hours, this year i’m only averaging 2 or 3 hours of sleep…and thats even with senioritis.

this too shall end

seriously just hang in there, it will fly by faster than you can imagine

oh btw if you think junior year is stress, try beginning of senior year…however that part goes by extremely fast too so before you can blink your eyes you’ll be a second semester senior looking for every opportunity to do homework so that your brain doesn’t lose its function from not doing anything.

Yeah I also find junior year really stressful (at least sometimes). I have also head that first sem of senior year is harder but it’s more satisfying because you’re really moving towards a goal. Junior year is just about keeping ur grades up but you don’t really see and rewards for it until senior year. Try to look at the big picture and take days where you do absolutely nothing associated with school or work. Go somewhere different for the weekend, to for walks in the forest, … whatever works.

I find this year (sophomore) stressful at times. My APUSH class requires 15 hours of work per week and my AP Govt class takes up about 10-15 hours a week. Add in precalc and chem, and I spend nearly all my free time doing homework. I still get 8 hours of sleep every night.

It’s your fault. Try time management…it helps.

you try having to work, and go to school…its not as easy as you think being 16 was such an easy time period for me.

I actually can relate to Fsu-uf seeing as I’m also a current IB senior taking all her tests this coming May . IB exams + EE + ToK Essay + English orals + history IA + Group 4 Project + CAS hours…it never ends!

And I did average about 2-4 hours of sleep for a few months.

whoever said take it one day at a time has got it right on the spot. Try not to think too much about college or whatever is coming up, focus on the moment. AND, i dont know how to say this, but I think you sorta get used to it. Junior year tends to be the year when academics really get kicked up a notch (I feel like Emeril Live now. BAM!) stress, it’s life, sometimes there’s just no way around it.

maybe have sex with a good looking chick :)

I have not handled stress very well, don’t get me wrong I still get a 3.95 GPA and take a hard course load, but I’ve stressed myself to the point of sickness twice this year.

haha “smoke weed” yeahh well I can relate to some of you that have no sleep during the weekdays. it really sucks, and its so hard to concentrate in class when your dieing to sleep. Which is exactly why I have became addicted to coffee… I have to drink coffee regularly now. Shots of expresso at 6 am works for me =]

Stay away from drugs, they make things worse in the long run (personal experience. =P) Pick one day at least a week to go out and have fun, it’ll help a lot.

I can relate to the Junior year stress with IB classes, ecs ect. ect-
My religion ( christianity) really helps me; knowing that there is an all powerful GOD who has my best intrests at heart allows me to be calm.
In addition, I finally decided that if my best wasn’t good enough than why bother.
Futhermore, I saw that every other IB junior was depressed so I decided I wouldn’t be. When I start to get stressed I breathe and say something to the effect of this is only preparing for providing for a family or this is just preparation for leading the nation.
Finally- BE A TEEN! PLAY WITH 5 year OLDS! LAUGH! EAT ICECREAM! GET SOME SLEEP! TAKE A WALK! ENJOY BEING 16!

jus my two cents

My lack of religion helps me, knowing that I am in complete control of my own destiny schoolwise. Calms me down and helps me realize that I just need to study.

I’m with Huey, knowing that i dont have to go to church and hear all that hypocrisy or follow all that crap written in the bible helps me get through life alot easier.

I wasn’t aware that this thread was an attack on religion…I was just offering what helps me cope with my stress.

Whoa, Fsu-uf…that was a bit unnecessary…

And yeah, I’m in Grade 11 and it’s stressful, but what keeps me going is that summer is quickly approaching…
