<p>I’ve never read anywhere that interviews count for 40% of your decision…pretty sure your interviewer was very confused/trying to trick you.</p>
<p>If that’s the case, he certainly did a good job. I’m sure a smaller private school like Duke can vary their admissions process a bit if someone is an unusual or on-the-fence applicant, so maybe that’s what happened. I’m not sure why he would say that if he didn’t mean it.</p>
