I was in 6th grade. This was a seminal event for me. My class was doing a mock radio broadcast, and I wrote the story about Kent State. This event was what got me interested in current events, reading newspapers and politics. I was a journalist for many years, a career I can trace back to this. Also, I always assumed because of this that when I was in college, there would be protests and an active student body. I was pretty disappointed when my college days in the late 70s were pretty dull.
