It was great! Iāll add a picture of what we did:
Outside of that, we actually had readings and had to read them outside of class. If your child is interested in being in the anthology, please know they have less than 3 days to edit their work. We started for a few days then immediately jumped in the anthology process. I was one of the editor in chiefs! Please do this promptly if your child gets in.
The food there is also very good. We ate 3 times a day. Thereās a bunch of people that are internationals so if your child is interested in meeting people from different cultures, this is also a plus!!
Additionally, we went on a nature hike and had smores at a fire place (cliche) and we did readings of our work over a series of 5 days. We also had many authors come and speak to us the week before.
If your late to your class, your RA (person in your floor) will be notified and they will be told about it and have a talk with you (this didnāt happen to me but it was a guidelines rule)
But I did have my common app essay draft reviewed by someone who had a PHD! If thereās any other questions feel free to ask, this was at the top of my head.

Hi there! Just wanted to share that my son got accepted to Kenyon Young Writers Summer Residential Workshop for this summer!

Yayyyy congrats!
After the first week (first 5 days) they tell you all to meet in this one building, and announce that you have around 2-3 days to create the anthology. The anthology is 1-2 works youāve written over the past few days.
For us, we created a google sheet accessible through a QR code so you could put your name and a link to your work as a shareable document. We also made a GroupMe for those interested directly working on the anthology!!
I donāt know how itāll work this year but the presentation was 12 pt double spaced times new Roman with 1ā margins, and the writer would have to proof read.
Congrats to your son! I just got into WashU last week, so hopefully it gives him a boost in the admissions process.
