Thanks for the descaling tip…machine is 3 years old and I never did that (who knows where the manual is). Will look online for instructions and buy a big jug of vinegar!

No mess to clean up. That’s nice. I just don’t like drip coffee.

Love Love Love my Keurig. I have a Mini both at home and in my office. DH doesn’t drink coffee so the one cup at a time method is perfect for us. I too have found Dunkin Donuts brand to be best. DD2 brings home many cartons from the East Coast when she visits. The only down side is that now I drink much more coffee than I used to!

I wish they had more hot chocolate varieties.

Keurig has brought peace to our family. DH likes as much caffeine as possible and I’m completely decaf. No more arguing or wondering what kind is in the pot. We set up a coffee club account with Green Mountain to get regular shipments of our favorite brands at a discount with no shipping. It’s working for us.

So funny to see an ad for K-cups at Cafe Express on this page. Is it my browser only or embedded in the CC portal?

^ I just like that the gang is mollified and I can have my 2 cups in my ancient old espresso maker every morning in peace.

Recently stayed at a motel that provided a coffee maker and coffee packets in the room. This is common but I never tried one before but had a hankering for a morning cup of Joe so I used it. I’m a decaf guy which means I’m used to sacrificing taste.

Not with this. It was the best cup of coffee I can remember.

I made a point of remembering the name and found it on the net a few days later. So I ordered a 60 pack for $30. And it works fine in my B&D 1 cup coffee brewer.

Colombian Supremo

We just bought a Keurig from Costco this afternoon, and thought it would be a fine idea to have coffee from our new coffee maker after supper. Well, so much for that idea: the water reservoir leaked almost immediately upon seating it into the machine (yes, we made sure multiple times that it was correctly and securely seated. Read the owner’s manual and everything), and we ended up with water all over the kitchen floor. Yeah, that was fun….

Hubby re-boxed the thing, and it’ll be returned to Costco tomorrow and exchanged for another. My parents, sister, and daughter all have this same machine and it works like a champ for them, so I’m hoping this is a fluke. What ever happened to quality control? Shouldn’t they have tested this thing before it left the factory?

Keurig is mailing me a new brewer, which hopefully will dispense 50F hotter and that will likely make the coffee stronger, too.

Some mom, after reading about your temp check, I checked mine and my water is only 125 degrees, but hot enough for us. I also had to descale this week for the second time in a few months. All this coffee talk.

@toblin
I am always looking for that better tasting decaf coffee. Which brand of the Colombian Supremo did u get? A google search gave me several brands.

I want to say that I am very happy with Keurig customer service. My keurig stopping working, it would only pump out 4 oz when brewing and 7 oz with plain water. I descaled and tried to clear out the needles and it still wasn’t working. I called customer service and they are sending me a new brewer. Yea!

I’m thinking that they are making all their money off the k cups so they can replace the brewers when they stop working. All I know is that I’m happy not to pay 100+ for a new machine. I didn’t think mine was making coffee as hot as I would like so I hope the new one fixes that also.

I returned my defective Kuerig to Costco and brought home a replacement, same model. Works like a champ. Love it!

No one in my family who has a Keurig uses anything but the one-time-use disposable-buy them-already-filled portions to make coffee.

I understand the appeal of the convenience. The coffee tastes okay. But, I think the environmental impact of all that plastic truly makes it unacceptable. Surely there has to be a better alternative.

I agree, which is why I bought a Keurig, in which I could use a reusable filter, and not the Tazo in which one was not available. I always use a reusable. There are 2 other brands of reusables on the market besides what the company sells. I’ve even modified the one Keurig sells to get better tasting coffee. I think I have less environmental impact than I did when I used paper filters and a regular coffee machine.

GT- what modifications did you make?

Somemom- my complaint with the reusable filter is that the coffee was too weak. I read a tip on-line and it works great. Take a used K-cup (plastic thing) and empty it out including the paper filter. Cut the lip off and place it into the reusable holder. Place the filter inside that and put coffee in the filter. The environmentalists are right, the plastic thing lasts forever.

great tip, I haven’t use reusable filter because of weak coffee and it seemed the water went straight thru barely saturating coffee.

Yes, it is a poor design (wonder if that is on purpose so you buy more K cups?). With the modification I use, the coffee is much better. There is also the solofill cup that you can get at Amazon or BB&B and the ekobrew also at Amazon. I tried the solofill which is fine but the coffee not as good as my modified filter.
