I decided to switch away from the bisque when I had to replace one appliance and found that there was no consistency with the bisque/cream/off-white appliances across brands and categories. My washer and dryer look completely different shades and I am just glad they are hidden in my laundry room and not front and center in my kitchen!

Look at the ads in the back of a copy of This Old House or Old House Interiors magazine. There are usually a number of nifty retro colors–

Italian maker Bertazzoni makes beautiful professional style ranges in bright primary colours. Why not go with a stove/range colour and for your dishwasher and fridge make panels that match your cupboards?
I have a neighbor that did this along with slate and wood countertops, and a bright red stove.Looks great

We have a large eat-in kitchen/den area. The floor is tile, though we’re planning on hardwood down the road. We have lots of white cabinets and had all white appliances. As things wore out we went with stainless. We recently had black pearl granite countertops installed with (now) all stainless appliances, with the exception of the fridge. The house came with a non-magnetic white sub-zero and it’s been great for 18 years. It does have stainless handles, so goes fine with the white cabinets and stainless appliances. We also changed all the door/drawer knobs with stainless-looking ones and it really looks great.

I use Johnson Wax stainless spray cleaner or wipes. So far I love everything.

No granite here either. I’m going for the Silestone look…and white appliances. My house just isn’t a “granite” house. But the silestone would be very nice. I’m also considering Corian or one of the other solid surface countertops…but not until I finish paying my kid’s tuition in a year!!!

Last time I built a house I put in white appliances and granite, and would never do either again. My current house came with granite and a Viking stove, which is no better than any other stove I’ve had. The next time i have a choice I will buy black appliances, but I’m still on the fence about counters. I like the integral bowls and color variety available in solid surface, but not the heat sensitivity. I’m hoping some fabulous new counter product with all the features of solid surface and impervious to heat will be forthcoming.

dntw8up - just curious, why wouldn’t you do the white appliances and granite again? just personal taste as to how they look, or another reason?

My “Corian” is actually “Simplicity”. It is made by the same manufacturer and is identical to Corian - as far as I can tell, and as I was told by someone in the kitchen renovation field. However, it comes with more limited choices of colors and edges, and has a shorter warranty. And a lower price! Anyway, I love it, and have not had any problems putting very hot items on it.

I’ve had a lot of white appliances over the years and they seem sterile to me. I also don’t care for stainless. I have had a couple of black appliances and they “disappear” better than white or stainless, which is something I appreciate visually. I have had granite in the last two houses and it is too hard and cold aesthetically for me. I am pleased to hear you’ve been happy with your solid surfacing and that you haven’t had any burn issues.

I really appreciate both the less hard (compared to granite) surface and especially the integrated sinks of the solid surface.

If you are thinking of selling anytime before replacement I think the real choices are SS or paneled to match your cabinets. You can soften the stainless look but buyers of even moderate priced homes will see less value unless it’s a very high end departure from today’s norm like the Le Corneau.

If not, just go with what pleases you.
