Kitchen remodel. Quartz or Granite counters?

^^^^
Those are really two very separate issues. :)

I REALLY wanted those old fashioned glass doorknobs…oh well.

thumper, so did I. DH says over his dead body. I guess they’re too girly.

A question; Can you install a farmhouse sink flush with the countertop or overmount? I don’t like the look of the undermounted farmhouse sink.

One of the first things I did when we moved into our house 22 years ago was replace all the interior doors. We had those horrible brown hollow doors. I put in all six panel ones and painted them white-ish. It was an inexpensive (relatively) fix but made a huge difference. I put on brass door knobs, which now look dated so want to switch them out with brushed nickle. But, like everything else on my list, have to wait until I’m done with college tuition.

Igloo, check around and you’ll see what different types of farmhouse sinks are available. We have a farmhouse sink in our main home and also in our second home. The one in our second home is an overmount. This house was built about ten years ago, though, so I have no idea if that model is still available.

We replaced our interior doors in our big reno in 2011 and I agree that it makes a big difference. Good quality doors are a treat after the builders’ grade ones we had prior to the reno. Be sure to replace the hardware/hinges, too, though. It’s nice to have good doors that open and close easily.

I’ve been looking. I don’t see an overmount farmhouse sink. The only one I see is from Kohler cast iron. They are shallow. Do you know what kind is your old overmounted sink?

Iglooo, it’s a Kohler, with one large and deep basin and a smaller and more shallow one to the right.

That sounds good. I think they retired that model unfortunately.

That’s too bad, iglooo. I think that Ikea used to have an overmount one a few years ago. Have you checked their website?

I did. Theirs is only 7" deep. I am so used to a 10" deep sink that it felt almost flat.

The 10-inch-deep ones are too deep for me. I’m only 5 feet tall, so when I lean into a 10-inch-deep sink, I feel like I’m going to fall in.
