Knee replacement

ShawWife had a very bad reaction to the first opioid they gave. I think oxycodone. They switched her to Dilaudid, which was somewhat better but she didn’t sleep well at all. Her sleep improved when she lowered to dose and took the cannabis gummies.

I slept fine finally. The nerve block is wearing off slowly. I can feel the cold from the ice now. But not really painful. I did add a mid dose of Tylenol as suggested. So Tylenol, then 2 1/2 hours later Dilaudid. Repeat repeat repeat.

Glad you came through this so well- at least so far!

I’m following this thread with interest and (future) dread. Best wishes for a strong and speedy recovery, @thumper1.

Following as well, total knee scheduled in November

Glad to hear that the surgery went well.

We have a personal trainer who is a physical therapist who comes to our house 3 times per week who told us that the critical things at this stage are: Ice, ice, ice to keep the swelling down and stretching to get a) extension and b) flexion. He continued the exercises for the non-surgical person, but gave us generalized help.

ShawWife was sort of out of it during this period in part because she worked very, very hard on the exercises. and in part because the drugs have a very strong effect on her. I worked hard but was not out of it. While it didn’t feel like the period went quickly, it seems short in hindsight.

@thumper1, glad to hear things are going smoothly so far!

Glad you are recovering @thumper1. Best wishes for continuing a good recovery.

Glad to hear you are done with the surgery…onward to recovery! May it be swift!

Well…two days post op. My nerve block finally wore off. It leaves me with an achy feeling not really pain. Medications are good ones!

PT is going well, I think. I can get around my house pretty well, and can do most things myself. Just can’t carry or lift, so far…manageable.

Yay, @thumper1 !
