Sorry, I don’t remember.
My Mom also recently had a spinal surgery. She had a neurosurgeon as well. Best thing to happen to her. She was in such pain before the surgery she was walking bent over. Now she is back to water aerobics and her old self.
My sister had consults with both an orthopedic surgeon and a neurosurgeon prior to her spinal surgery. They proposed different approaches to the procedure. She chose the neurosurgeon and had a successful outcome.
Biggest recommendation was from someone who just had two knee replacements…
PHYSICAL THERAPY. And it’s a drag. And it’ll hurt doing the exercises. And you’ll be complaining. And then you can walk again…
Someone from my synagogue just had major back surgery (spinal stenosis, same vertebrae where I have it). She’s three weeks out and pain-free. Doc is amazed. She saw an ortho and a spinal neurosurgeon, and went with the latter. M
I’ve already talked to my back ortho about it to discuss the differences in approach, and encouraged me to get a second opinion with a neurospine doc. For now. I get epidural injections and take Lyrica. Not in a rush for this.
I did PT for six months on my knee and used all 60 PT visits. You can do everything the docs tell you and still aren’t guaranteed a good result.
Yep!
Right. I hear people saying PT does not always work, using it as an excuse to slack off. But it does seem really important to give it all you’ve got, so that you know you did everything possible to encourage recovery.
The surgery you mentioned sounds just like what my mom had. Everything is going great for her so far. She did use a neurosurgeon.
