LACs with large international population

The College of the Atlantic is.

It offers only one major, Human Ecology, but you can do pretty much anything with it – students study everything from the arts to marine science.

It’s also extremely environmentally conscious and is the ONLY college in the US that’s carbon neutral. It even has composting toilets. Yale and Stanford teach environmental science, but COA lives it. :)

Duh!! I read all the posts 2x and was still thinking Cost of Attendance.

Bard has 16% international.

Sometimes the % of internationals include US citizens living abroad. For example, Amherst’s intl population about 10% but when you subtract out US citizens, its 7%.

Just saying.

According to the most recent data available (IPEDS), it’s 11% international, which is still quite high.

Most people are citing the “nonresident alien” percentages. As you mentioned, that is 7% for Amherst.

Clark is a university but it is LAC in size.

10% of students at Vassar College are citizens of other countries. 50 countries are currently represented, with the largest representation coming from Bulgaria, China, India, Jamaica, Canada, Ghana, Singapore, Ecuador, and Romania.

Swarthmore - 7%
Amherst - 7%
Wesleyan (CT) - 7%

Carleton-6-9%
Reed-6-7%

Oberlin College - 4%
Oberlin Conservatory - 16%
College and Conservatory Combined - 6%

Common Data Set (2009-2010)

Amherst: 8.14 percent (142/1744)
Williams: 7.04 percent (143/2032)
Wesleyan: 6.83 percent (189/2766)
Middlebury: 11.7 percent (275/2484)
Swarthmore: 6.60 percent (100/1525)

Amherst remains the only premiere LAC with a need-blind policy toward admission of international students.

It’s only 1/2 an LAC but Babson is over 20% international.

NYU Abu Dhabi is only opening this fall, but it’s an amazing liberal arts college and from the Candidate Weekend I can assure you that it is at LEAST 80% international, haha

Smith is 12% international.

Colby has 10% international students.

Both Carleton and Macalester has a significant population as well.

Interesting that the percentages reported by US News deviate so much from what the colleges report on their websites. Not sure which is correct or how something so seemingly straightforward can become complicated unless they’re reporting for different time periods…

Wellesley College’s Class of 2013 is almost 25% international – one of the largest international classes in recent years.
