Cornell will definitely let me major in engineering. It’s the college they’ve done the pre-read for. Not sure about Lafayette, but all of the schools I’ve talked to are open to it, so obviously not guaranteed but I don’t necessarily see it being an issue
Yeah. I know it won’t be easy but I’ve been doing hard classes and balancing multiple sports my whole life. So I think I can do it.
Lafayette knows I have an offer. It’s public on social media.
As for undergrad research, I’m really not sure. Cornell would be more flexible in supporting it athletically I think, because generally the ivies I’ve talked to prioritize academics more than the non ivies
I’ve done my best. Ivies don’t have summer workouts bc of internships, so players aren’t on campus right now. I’ve had 1 on 1 phone calls with four of the returning players, so I’ve gotten a decent feel for those people at least.
Lafayette I have no clue. Generally meeting the players happens on a visit, which usually doesn’t happen until you have an offer.
I would be more explicit about that. You are in a position where you have been offered a preferred admit to one of the best universities in the world. Its in the Lafayette coach’s interest to let you sit that out. Don’t make a passive decision here. To the extent possible, get the information you need to the decision thats right for you.
How do your parents feel about full cost at Cornell? Is money an issue? If you or your parents will have to take loans, that’s a consideration.
You need to get to Lafayette ASAP to see what you think. My kid was recruited there and it wasn’t for her-- said she felt as if everyone came from white, upper middle class suburbs, and that it wasn’t diverse at all (if that matters to you). We’re from a city; she thought it was super strange she spent 2 days there and never ran into an Asian person.
According to the common data set, nearly 3.5% are Asian. 67% Caucasian. After Caucasian, the largest ethnicity is hispanic at 10%.
Tracks!
I thought the campus was simply beautiful.
A plus for Cornell is that the Ivy League has for a long time played all of its conference games on Friday’s & Saturday’s to minimize the impact of missed classes. That’s not to say that there are not weekday games out of conference.
