My student had only 2 years of FL in HS, however it is due to schedule conflict and he explained in his application. He got into 3 ivys and 6 top 20 schools. So I don’t think it hurt him at all.

Since every college considers level completed, while only some colleges care about number of courses while in high school, having two years up to level 4 is better for college admissions than having two years up to level 2. It is also better to have finished a higher level if the student wants to use the foreign language learned in high school for any purpose afterward.
