On the first day, you have to go to IS (Information Systems) to pick up your printer and laptop (they take you via tram service, as it’s hot outside, and IS is sort of far away.) The current model is the Lenovo T61 ThinkPad; a lot of kids bash on them, but to be honest, this thing has (so far!) been as unbreakable as I could have imagined. They’re not fancy, but they get the job done.

Some (but not many) kids bring their Apples, etc for personal use. If you have one and want to bring it, great, but you won’t need it. The great thing about everyone using the same thing is that your RTA (Resident Technical Advisor) and IS staff, for that matter, know the ins and outs of your computer by default, making it easy to get support. I could be wrong, but every two years (basically, when you’re a junior), students trade in their old model and get the new, updated one; this is the one you get to keep after you graduate.
