My D sounds like your D. My D has been described as a Golden Age soprano (think Shirley Jones in Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, etc). She is not a natural belter, and when in HS her voice teacher did not want to force her to learn and ruin her voice. But now halfway through college she is developing the belt voice, can sing more rock/pop, and is in her first professional production, Jesus Christ Superstar, this summer. A non-Golden Age role to be sure.
So there is no question your D will develop her voice in college,. That’s what they’re there for!
