Was the parachute the cause of death? No.
Was the hitting of the ground that killed him? Yes.

how does this work?

Was the location of the landing relevant to his death?

Did the parachute not open because of its own malfunction? or because Lee was not able to open it? This.
Was Lee conscious up until his death? Yes.
Did he die before reaching the ground? No.
Were any of his bones broken before death? No.
Was his throat constricted in any way? No. Was he strangled? No. Was he strangled by his parachute? No.

Was the gas that was in too high a concentration what made him pass out?
Was this gas a common gas (i.e. nitrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, something someone without chemistry knowledge might know)?

Was Lee properly outfitted for skydiving? Yes.
Was he properly skilled for skydiving? Probably.

Was the location of the landing relevant to his death? No, or at least not beyond what you have already established.

Was he unable to move his appendages so as to open the parachute in time?
Was the concentration of this unknown gas the cause of his paralysis?

Was the gas that was in too high a concentration what made him pass out? He didn’t pass out, remember?
Was this gas a common gas (i.e. nitrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, something someone without chemistry knowledge might know)? Yes.

Explore further! Find out exactly why his parachute didn’t save him.

Was he unable to move his appendages so as to open the parachute in time? Yes.
Was the concentration of this unknown gas the cause of his paralysis? Yes.

So, he jumped out of the plane, there was too much of another gas in the air, which had to do with pressure, and then when he hit the ground he died. He did not pass out while falling.

Was he wearing a gas mask of any sort?
Did the gas incapacitate him in any sort of way?
If I breathed the gas that he did at that time, would I die?

Was he enrolled in the military?

Did Lee have the full capacity to move his arms (for opening the parachute)? EDIT Don’t answer my redundant question.
Was he kissing someone while skydiving? 'Cause that’d be awesome.

If I breathed that gas at normal altitude, would I be paralyzed?
Is he special in that only he was paralyzed?
Does he have a medical condition that made him susceptible to this gas?
Does this gas commonly cause paralysis?
Is the gas CO2?
Is the gas CO?
Was this a nitrogen oxide?
Was this ozone?

Was he wearing a gas mask of any sort? At what time?
Did the gas incapacitate him in any sort of way? Yes.
If I breathed the gas that he did at that time, would I die? If that was all you did? No.

Was he enrolled in the military? Yes.

Did Lee have the full capacity to move his arms (for opening the parachute)? At what time?
Was he kissing someone while skydiving? 'Cause that’d be awesome. No. Unless he was kissing this world goodbye.

If I breathed that gas at normal altitude, would I be paralyzed? No.

Is the gas CO2? No.
Is the gas CO? No.

I’m going to bed. Leave me questions to answer in the morning!

I mean…being at high altitudes can paralyze people who get extreme altitude sickness.

^I lol’ed haha

Was it very cold?
Was it very hot?
Was he wearing the gas mask before skydiving?
Was he wearing the gas mask as he jumped out of the plane?
Was he wearing the gas mask when he died?
Was this a training exercise?
Was this a HALO jump?

Ah. So here’s our friend, Mr. Skydiver. He’s likely a paratrooper in the US Army. It’s war time and they’re sending the Paratroopers out on a mission. He does his routine checkup, then jumps on out. Suddenly, he realizes something’s different with the air; it’s composed of sarin, which disables his nervous system, preventing him from opening his parachute. As he falls towards his death, he takes one breath just before landing, and dies.

If not, was this at wartime? Which war?

Was the gas sarin, tabun, or soman?

no, you would die of sarin gas at normal altitudes, and its already been said its not laughing gas
