My bil was very thankful for long term disability insurance through his employer. He did have to apply for SSDI and his insurance was reduced by that payment. But the insurance was more than SSDI and allowed them to live while not as well as before at least somewhat comfortable.
she should get something…of course nobody ever needs it…until they need it.
