Sorry, I do not understand criticism about Lawrenceville’s acceptance package. I got a giant red box containing handwritten notes from both students and faculty as well as a Lawrenceville hat (which will stay in the big red box). The package felt very personal and positive.
I’m mostly concerned because I still haven’t received mine yet. I’m sure it will be a wonderful package but I’m just wondering where mine is. Are you an international or local family? Could it have been that they only sent the acceptance packages to domestic admitted applicants or do they send it to all those admitted including international? Because I’m an international student. Maybe I wasn’t meant to receive one at all. But if was, it has been taking quite a while
2 toughts reading your responses:
At any BS, it will help to go in with good times management skills AND you can get help with this and improve. Fwiw, I am now what you would probably consider ancient, and yet I continue to tinker with my own time management system. Why? My schedule changes, my priorities change, demands on me change, and the tools available change. One of the best things about a good education is that you learn to learn – about everything (including self-management!)
As for the package – reach out to your AO if this is an issue for you. It seems crazy to not consider a school because you didn’t get your acceptance package, but that might not be the school’s fault. DHL may have lost it, it could have gotten held up in customs, etc. This seems like a big deal to you, so see if it can be fixed.
Good luck in making a decision – and remember that there’s no bad choice!
When making a decision , also think about the commute during vacations. My child had to travel as an unaccompanied minor(14 yr old), luckily, we had friends and family who were able to help. Our school only provides transportation to airport and no services for unaccompanied minors.
L’ville is very accessible to Newark as well as JFK for travel home. (And Philadelphia, which also has international service.)
That’s helpful in terms of scheduling and cost.
The school runs a shuttle to both airports for major breaks
Just shocked myself by booking holiday travel from the Hartford CT airport (50 miles from Deerfield) to the furthest point on the planet with only one change of planes in Dallas. It was actually a better route than taking the school shuttle to Logan. Less door-to-door travel time. And a much less expensive ticket. At any school, it pays to airport shop. The northeast is so dense, there are always options.
Bonus: book early if you will be 15 by the time of travel for long haul flights. That is the age at which you can purchase the emergency row. But they sell out early.
So what did you decide? Lville or Deerfield?
Hey! I chose Lville : ) it aligned more with my values and goals (diversity, close proximity to major cities and facilities, discussion-based learning, etc..) As an international student its location also benefits me because of the accessibility to various airports. Deerfield’s warmth did leave a very big impression on me though. Needless to say it was a considerably tough choice but I am happy with my decision : )
Hey! I’m going to Lville as a 10th grader next year too I’d love to keep in contact!
