@RoundGenius, I’m a bit confused. This from your post history: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1948184-harvard-or-princeton.html#latest
So, let me get this straight: YOU WERE ACCEPTED to Yale in the SCEA round, but are now realizing you stand a good chance in the RD round of being rejected by Harvard and Princeton. Is that correct?
If so, I have three things to say:
First off, GROW UP kid! Yale rejected 28% of SCEA applicants and deferred another 58% – now those kids have something to cry about, but absolutely not you! My read on the post j#2 is that @stuyingtosave was deferred – imagine how s/he feels ? Where’s you’re empathy man? Maybe you do belong at Harvard after all!. http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2011/9/1/pledge-freshmen-students-harvard/
Secondly, between my son and daughter, they were accepted to HYP and we saw each school’s financial package. For our family, Yale was the cheapest (then Princeton and then Harvard). Yes, Harvard was the most expensive for our family, but by just a few thousand dollars per semester. Not really enough to make a high difference in financial aid packages.
Lastly, you should be excited and thrilled to have been accepted to Yale. And if you are accepted to that other school to the north, you really should THINK CAREFULLY about what you want from your next four years, as prestige ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. I posted this thread several years ago and you may want to read post #4 and rethink your priorities: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/1483765-choosing-yale-over-stanford-and-harvard-p1.html
