Leasing Laptops

Thanks and… Sparticus, dont u sleep? :)

Not last night, actually. I was getting into a waking hours of 4PM-4AM habit, and needed to cure it before going back to school this weekend, so I stayed up all night, drank coffee in the morning, and will stay up all day so I go to bed early.

Apple unvieled their new Intel-powered “MacBook Pro” today…damn is that sexy.

$1799 with their student discount. :)

Oh, and you can get discounts at Dell as well if you are a university student…

<a href=“Computers, Monitors & Technology Solutions | Dell USA”>Computers, Monitors & Technology Solutions | Dell USA;

dell’s student discounts are much smaller than their regular dealsea.com discounts.

But can’t you just use both? Or not?

no, the coupons are dell home or dell business specific.

Macbook Pro - SWEET.

this might be a stupid question… but should I buy a really small laptop or one w/ a big screen. Does it get annoying lugging a laptop around if its on the heavier side?

And also… another question: Are there dates yet for Cornell days in April and if so what are they and if not when do we find out?

I don’t know but you can expect the dates to be around last year’s most likely. If you run a search of CC’s cornell forum those might surface.

k thanks. haha, im trying to use Cornell Days as an excuse to get out of a family vacation

litagee, If I were you, I’d get a nice, light laptop but also purchase a 17-19" LCD flat panel and a seperate KB/Mouse to use in your dorm (you can plug it right into your laptop). A decent 17" LCD can be picked up for about $230, whereas a 19" would run about $300-350.

that’s an option, but only if you’re looking to be really mobile with your laptop. For the average college student, one who doesn’t take his laptop out of his dorm daily, a medium sized machine like the Dell Inspirion 6000 or Apple 15" powerbook is fine.

no…need something…more…powerful…

go google “XPS concept”

go for it! haha yeah if high performance is a must and price is less of an issue take a look at the Dell XPS line

Might be a dumb question, but are there a lot of 24/7 gamers at Cornell? I do play occasionally. Not as bad as some people at school tho…the comp sci class has their own Unreal Tournament Club, with T shirts. Kinda scares me…

havent met any, but that’s probably because they’re holed up in their rooms in front of their computers shooting at each other or wandering around in mystical worlds together.

Easy on the generalizations…these days it seems like just about everyone plays video games in some form. I’d be shocked if there aren’t at least a decent number of “normal” people that will play games (yes, even at college) for fun sometimes.

Oh, nvm, I see he said 24/7 gamers…well I doubt you can game 24/7 at a school like Cornell and still pass, but I’m sure they exist. I wonder if there are a lot of LAN servers up for different games since the 2 gb/month free dl limit would kind of hinder online gaming.

i agree with sparty on everything except the printer thing. i have a canon inkjet (i860) right now its pretty cheap and spits out paper on draft like its mouth is burning. The cartrige is specially made for black print and costs in the low teens, so i find it a better deal (great photo and speedy text all in one). plus the new pixima series printers are cheap now 100 -150 and can print fast and auto double side. the new mac looks awesome (x1600-> didnt know that existed) and makes me feel even worse about my unconscious hate of macs.
