My eldest got a degree in English. She was employed as an administrator for a local business for 6 months post graduation, then was laid off… this is not a function of a Colgate degree, but the overall economy at the moment.

Now she is working on going to grad school and studying environmental science. She is taking a few undergrad courses in preparation (she didn’t take organic chemistry @ Colgate, for example).

As far as the social life, she had a blast. She plays the cello and was in one of the cello groups. She was involved in Colgate Christian Fellowship and several other clubs that interested her. She didn’t get involved with Greek life, but she says it was very active on campus. It just wasn’t her thing.

My youngest is interested in Lehigh, and will start college applications in the fall. He wants to study engineering, which Lehigh is strong in. Just from my observations, socially Colgate and Lehigh seem very similar.

It is great to hear that she had such a positive experience at Colgate, especially since English is my prospective major. I just need to go to Colgate and get a feel for it so I have a true opinion as to whether I like it better than Lehigh. Thanks so much for your responses!

Does anybody else have any insight?

Can’t speak to any questions you have about Lehigh, however D graduated from Colgate '08. She had a double major english/spanish. She thoroughly loved her four years there and would not trade it for anything. She is currently employed at a large company and is considering grad school at some point in the near future. Was born and raised on the west coast but adapted well to the rural setting of Hamilton. Good luck with your decision at this is a tough choice.

I’d go with Colgate.
