Can’t wait for the PR spin they try to put on this. Maybe they will claim they had a “special” prom for the “special” people. This was a seriously bad decision, and if it costs the school district $$ to learn, then so be it.

Un-effin-believable.

In fact it is a really good thing that those vicious ignoramuses excluded the “■■■■■■■” as well as the “dyke” from their private prom. (And of course, their dimwitted offspring immediately rushed to post pictures on Facebook…)

Because now there is no way in freaking hell that they can claim they were upholding their “Christian values.” They have been completely exposed by their very own stupidity.

There must be something in the Bible that tells them not to cavort with the mentally infirm.

To clear things up, the articles I read said that that several learning disabled students were also at the fake prom. I did read callous comments about the learning disabled students, in comments sections of a blog or two, that purported to be from actual attendees at the actual prom. However, I know of no quote where the attendees or their parents called the learning disabled students “■■■■■■■.” That was what I imagined the parents saying. They may instead have used perfectly kind terms while excluding the learning disabled students from the real prom.

Just a hint to the students at the real prom: if you’re going to claim that your event was only a private party and not a prom, don’t post pictures to Facebook labelled “Prom 2010.”

Wow, just wow. I wonder what “undesirables” will be crossed off the “real prom” list next year.

I think in the end, the exclusion of the Learning Disabled kids from the real prom will be what brings down the school administrators and makes the lawsuit ultimately successful.

These parents who organized the alternate thought they were being so clever. They are just cruel, heartless bullies. I hope they are able to prove collusion between the school administrators and the parents who organized the alternate prom. I hope the judge comes down hard on these people.

These parents are so petty! Worse than 4th graders.

McMillen said that the learning disabled kids had a great time at the fake prom, and I certainly hope that’s true. But how must their parents have felt, seeing their kids rejected like that, for no reason other than their disability? It’s difficult enough to come to terms with having a child with a serious disability, without having your neighbors rub your face in the fact that your child will never be normal.

What’s the excuse for that? Even if you believe a lesbian girl chose to be lesbian and is destined to burn in the fires of hell forever, what’s the excuse for excluding disabled students? The excuse other than “I’m a selfish *&^%# who is completely devoid of any compassion whatsoever, and wouldn’t recognize Christian values if they walked up and bit me on the nose,” I mean.

These are political Christians who know nothing of what Jesus taught. Persecution of the disabled was supposed to have ended in 1945. We’re in the midst of ending similar persecution of gays. We’ll eventually give up this hateful behavior.

I was on a message board once where a guy posted that people with mental or physical disabilities had “sinned in the womb” and “if they repented, God would heal them of their affliction.” And then he got dogpiled by the rest of the board for being a horrible person and an idiot, which is no more than he deserved.

Still, it just goes to show there’s always someone out there stupider than you thought.

I wonder how you sin in the womb.

An excellent question. Of course, I’ve always thought that the concept of original sin was fairly obscene. Do you have to have a twin to sin in the womb, or can you do it all by yourself?

Well, lust would be a little tricky, but you could probably manage pride (“this uterus is the center of the universe!”), gluttony (“more placental blood, please!”), sloth (“what are you pushing for? I don’t want to go anywhere!”), etc.

groan… nightchef !!!

This really is bullying of the highest order. That is an entire town with unclean hands. They deserve the shame and scorn that is rightfully being heaped upon them. Those adults are a bunch of nasty children. Disgusting.

Shun them.

Absolutely disgusting and despicable behavior. And Consolation is right on – it’s always the ones who proclaim their “Christian” values the loudest.

Really, people, you won’t catch Teh Gay from a lesbian couple enjoying prom. Learn to mind your own darn business.

Something like justice:

I really like McMillen’s take. Yup, she can’t have her prom back, but someone else in her position will hopefully get to have one. The corresponding attitude adjustments may take longer, but you can’t legislate that.

Finally some good coming from this mess. I’m so impressed with McMillen, she is a very confident young adult.
