<p>STOP TALKING ABOUT BIOLA’S THEOLOGY DEPARTMENT. This thread is about california’s top colleges. You are clearly trying to take the focus away from your ridiculous claims about how pomona college isnt close to usc/ucla, and how cal poly slo doesnt belong anywhere on the list, and how easy cal poly is to get into. By posting a bunch of your own mumbo jumbo, which you cant back up with any rankings or outside information other than “i know people who chose biola over ivy’s”, or “i know a bunch of underqualified students who got into cal poly pomona”, which has nothing to do with cal poly slo or pomona college, you arent taking the focus off the ridiculous things you stated and claimed in former posts on this thread. This post is about top california colleges, not the “great theology department” at biola, or specific programs that may be decent at schools ranked in the high hundreds. You, my friend, as is quite clear by what others have posted in response to you, are the one being ridiculous.</p>

<p>engineering major at mudd requires 128-136 credits… and that is after they reduced the value of number of credits awarded. it used to be 140+…overloading for 2 years just for the degree.</p>

The reason you received the reaction that you did is that you were so hyperbolic in describing the students and the place originally. You made some outrageous claims, and you’re also correct that their was (and still is) some childish acting. </p>

<p>What was the riduculous claim? That Biola has a preeminant Theology program? I won’t back down from that. It’s certainly not where I ranked the school, as ONCE AGAIN, I put it 2 from the bottom.</p>

<p>Unless someone wants to argue that Alliant or Laverne ranks over Biola, then I have made NO ridiculous claims in terms of ranking. You are consistently commiting the fallacy of diversion. STOP IT: or you will get no scooby snacks. </p>

<p>Furthermore, I did not initiate the distraction from the rankings conversation. I will continue to maintain that Biola University has the best theological undergrad program in the country. I did not say that this program would singlehandedly catapolt it into the top 120, nor is seeking to reach the top 120 a grandiose vision. To move from extended ranking of 194 to 120 in 25 years is a lofty, but realistic goal. I have a lot of interest vested in Biola as do many others wish to see an evangelical school that remains evangelical set to rival BYU and Notre Dame and that interest will bring in much needed money, which is Biola’s achille’s heel. Again, if you could stop nut hugging on the idea that the ivy’s must have all the best things then you might know a thing or two. Most theological programs are taught by secular professors, with convoluted claims of imaginary source materials and outdated textual variants. My experience, and that of many others, is that theology programs often confuse more than enlighten. Biola takes a different stance and holds it’s students to a different level of rigor. This can be clearly demonstrated by how many masters/undergrad theology - philosophy of religion majors get into the ivy league schools, which due to resources, have definitively better theology PHD PROGRAMS. </p>

<p>UC Chris - you have NO IDEA what you are talking about in terms of theology programs, which are a unique niche. Again, as an overall institution, Biola is sorely lacking in many regards and I ranked it accoringly. I made one comment off hand about it’s theology program and you have vehemently attacked the idea - so do not complain that we are “off topic”. If you knew ANYTHING about theology programs, you would come to recognize Biola’s reputation IN THAT FIELD from others. Again, because you probably spend most of your time grinning like an idiot - let me say it again:</p>

In response to the rest of your post, what you seemed to forget that the stuff you posted up above on the last couple posts was not the ridiculous stuff that we were talking about. You failed to include the other stuff, which we claimed was ridiculous, such as:</p>

<h1>1 - The Poly Issue:</h1>

<p>For whatever reason, I misunderstood or people said it previously and thought people were making reference to Cal Poly POMONA so my comments are directed towards that school. You are building a straw man argument as you continue to equivocate my comments with Poly SAN LOUIS OBISOP and they were (correctly or incorrectly) directed towards Cal Poly Pomona. This is not unreasonable considering that there are 2 Cal Poly Pomonas. </p>

<h1>2 - Harvy Mudd/ Cal Poly vs USC/UCLA</h1>

<p>You continue to point out the GPA/SAT gap between Harvy Mudd/ Poly SLO and USC/UCLA. As I have stated previously, there is more to a university than the GPA/SAT scores of it’s student. Once again, items like endowment, quality of professors, resources etc. have a notable impact - in some fields more than others - on quality of education recieved. The smartest people in the world given an Artari will not make better games than people using a modern PC. And, if you are so hellbent on scores, you would have to try to reconcile Biola’s average weighted GPA of 3.7 with your opinion that it is useless as a university.</p>

<h1>3 - Biola as a top 120 University</h1>

<p>You are very unclear on this point. You keep talking about CALIFORNIA Universities. But, for example, Berkely is pretty universally #2 in California, but ranked outside of the top 10 Nationally. So, your comments on my thoughts about Biola rising into the top 120 in the next 25 years are vague and incoherent. Frankly, you’re being non sequitor here. </p>

<h1>4 UCLA Budget Cuts</h1>

<p>UCLA, while recieving some budget increases (due to FEE increases) will recieve lower state support in the long term. I have quoted an article for you to read yourself:</p>

<p>even if berkeley is ranked second in california, which its not, its third behind stanford and caltech, its 20th in the country overall, what does this have to do with biola being ranked over 150 or whatever. you cant say because a school is ranked 20th in the country and 2nd or 3rd in the state that is the same as being ranked 20th in the state and 150+ something overall. not even close. and sure all public colleges have financial trouble, but uc’s budgets have gone back up over the last couple years, you stated in an earlier post they were having budget cutbacks… your a few years late on that claim as i stated earlier. man you didnt rebuff anything stated. your prior posts speak for themselves. and stating that you get colleges mxed up is not a proper excuse for posting faulty info about them. if you dont know about them, thats fine, just say that, dont post info and stats about colleges you cant even keep straight or dont know exist. im getting tired of saying the same stuff over and over. lets get back to ranking colleges.</p>
