Alexandre is right. I’m actually pretty angry that Harvard’s been knocked out so soon. We are here to rank colleges, people. Not to knock out the competition early so your favorite college doesn’t have to compete with anything tough. Do you really feel that Pitt is better than Harvard? Of course not. Further, I feel that this early elimination might prevent posters from participating, who think it’s a joke or something. Ah well. A Harvard vs. Princeton battle would’ve been great. Judging by the way things are now, though, it’ll probably be UCLA vs. Emory or something. It’s really a shame.

I’m tempted to. Anyone else want a restart? Of course I understand if you guys want the standings to stay as they are. It just seems like the game has lost a lot of steam since Harvard’s elimination.

Sentiment, as long as Caltech and Duke are ranked among the top 17, there is nothing suspicious. You have 8 Ivies, all of which are as good as Duke, plus Cal, Caltech, Chicago, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, MIT and Stanford. Unfortunately, it is human nature to want to separate the top 5 or the top 10 from the rest. That cannot be done with universities in the US. That’s why I do not believe in rankings and prefer grouping universities into peer institutions. HYPSM are in one group, the other universities mentioned above all belong to the second group.
