<p>I’m in my fifties, and pretty comfortable in my skin. It’s not as confining as it was in my twenties, perhaps because I have so much more skin now than I did then.</p>
<p>If I had been inked thirty years ago, I suppose the tatoos would have expanded with the rest of my skin. Had I chosen, for instance, to preserve the image of an old girlfriend, that image probably would have morphed, as I have, into something larger and hairier, and with a few more wrinkles, sort of like the portrait of Dorian Grey.
