Thank you for that post. My D was accepted to NYU, her dream school. She is stilll torn between Hopkins who BTW gave her a better package and NYU who gave her very little. She applied to Hopkins at the last minute, not expecting to get in and at her surprise she did, thus the dilemma. I was reading the brochure that NYU sent back in January about how to finance an NYU education. It clearly stated that the more expensive schools give you more aid. That is the furthest from the truth about NYU. While our EFC is higher than most, we stilll have a need for approx 27,000. NYU gave her only 19% of her FA need with scholarship/grant. Now I understand why. They also have the largest amount for work study $4000.00. Alll the other schools had $2000-2500. Clearly they are one of the most expensive schools who lack financial aid resources for their students. Interested in growth, but as whose expense? There had been talk about decreasing their enrollment, but why should they, they need the dollars.
