My 8th grader D is 1/2 Caucasian and 1/2 Asian Indian… Raised my her white single mom in West Texas. I understand your concern.
@inthegarden for the schools she probably will be looking at, it won’t even be a minor issue. Frankly, many liberal arts schools are still trying to attract more asian kids!
Asians are not a monolithic block, and they are not all straight A kids. We just don’t seem to hear much from the A and B average kids. She’s a normal kid and will find her way on her own terms, I’m sure. Don’t worry Mama Bear, she’ll be treated fairly;)
My D is adopted from China and went to a small LAC that was in the Colleges That Change Lives book where she received a “minority” scholarship for $2800 each year. There were very few Asians there and clearly they were trying to increase diversity.
