But..no lifeguards after Labor Day, unless things have changed. And I’m always in the water.

I love the Jersey Shore!!!

Yes…some of the OCNJ beaches have lifeguards after Labor Day.

Here:

The Ocean City Beach Patrol will continue to guard the following beaches after Labor Day: · St. Charles Place · Brighton Place · 8th Street · 9th Street · 10th Street · 11th Street
· 12th Street · 34th Street · 58th Street Lifeguards will be on duty from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekends and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The Beach Patrol strongly urges bathers to swim only at guarded beaches. If you have any questions, please call 609-525-9200. Our RV.
More wine tasting today. Dinner will be tri-tip steak, cooked from frozen with the sous vide then seared, green salad and grilled asparagus. We’ll find a bottle of wine here somewhere haha.

That’s quite a luxury vehicle!

My kid’s a Whitman student; there’s an art walk around campus if you’re so inclined! (There are printed copies of the sculpture map at the admissions office, too).

It’s a nice town to visit, and the drive through the Gorge is pretty great - have a good trip!

Little kid had Whitman as her second choice! Great school. She ended up going to school near Boston. Walla Walla is a great area to visit!

Thanks!

These posts about Walla Walla made me miss the time when little (not so little then) kid was swimming. The swim meets In eastern WA were great! We’d leave her with her buddies at the pool (loosely supervised by fanatic parents who would not miss a minute of their kids’ races) and go explore the wine country! Need to get our grands into swimming… to repeat the experience!

I would be totally in with having a RV like this or a little smaller. But DH would absolutely be against it. Once we relocate to where Gkids are, and when the Gkids are a little older (the oldest of 5 is 7), it would be great to have some adventures with DD1/SIL/Gkids or with some combination of them with a RV.

I’m in awe of old people ( aka people my age) who could take long vacations in an RV. I no longer sleep well enough to spend every night in such a small space for an extended period of time.

I used to think I’d want to buy an RV and travel America when we retired. As I grew into my old age and spent time commuting in Atlanta traffic to/from work - that changed. I still think I’d like to vacation with an RV - BUT, I have no desire to drive cross country in it. Fly me to Jackson Hole, rent me an RV there and drive around the Grant Teton/Yellowstone area. Return to Jackson Hole and fly home! Or, some versison of that.

A gal I knew in HS has a big RV with her husband for their home and no other home. IDK if they have some stuff stored or not. They seem to have some kind of travel plans and do keep up with family. They also have broken down at the side of a road (she served the State Trooper lemonade while waiting for the big vehicle tow). They have done it for about two years.

My sister & BIL flew to Alaska & rented an RV there. She said it was great fun. BIL did all the driving. I would think it takes a bit of adjusting to drive an RV if you’re not used to it.

Our trips don’t tend to be that long; these two weeks is about it, haha.
It has a separate bedroom with a queen bed and a real mattress. Bath has a shower, the kitchen has an island, micro/convection oven.
We bought pre-Covid when prices were lower and there were deals to be made. It’s kept at our second home, so no storage fees.

One of these years we’ll do Yellowstone, California, Grand Canyon….

H had some coworkers who were driving an RV in Alaska. It was their 2nd trip where they rented RVs. They pulled over to let traffic pass but it was a soft shoulder and it tipped and they died, leaving their young kids orphans. We’ve been very nervous about RVs ever since.

I know some RVs are quite luxurious, but at this point I am more into comfort (hotel, restaurant, nice gym, shower, airline flight (direct if possible), etc)
