most crew teams will have a limit on the amount of kids they can carry on the roster…and most cuts will result from erg times that usually are used to differentiate between rowers. If you are interested in crew, do prep by running and strength/conditioning training (legs and upper body)…crew is a terrific sport, but not for the faint of heart!

Maintaining a 3.5 GPA with any athletics will be a challange, which is not to say it can’t be done (there is one kid on the lax team with a 4.0)…and no doubt he has company in other sports… just keep in mind, any varsity sport will keep you very busy.

As for athletes having poorer GPA than non-athletes… difficult to answer, as that is not posted. There was some research done on this years back, but the bottom line is that athlete or not, your GPA will remain a reflection of how much work you put into your grades. It all comes down to balancing and budgeting your time, something you will never have enough of to get all that you need done.
