Likelihood of being accepted into an Ivy?

I think you’ll have a shot at some of these schools, especially if you nudge up that ACT, mostly because I think you’re going to be able to tell an interesting story with your application. You might cut through the fog. You have a lot of atypical things going on (farming + horses + booktube), so I would make sure your essay + supplements really shine and cover the breadth of your interests. That said, I would really round out your match and safety list. Given how brutal this year’s admissions cycle was, the smartest thing you can have is multiple back-ups (are you applying to University of Minnesota?).

A tip on YouTube… I think it’s awesome that you’re a booktuber and you should definitely mention it b/c it’s something that is important to you, but bear in mind that success is relative. 1,000 subscribers is a nice accomplishment, but it’s not going to move the needle on your app at the elites like having 200,000 subscribers would (or a million). I would think of your YouTube work as an “adds color” element instead of a prominent focus. And related: you should consider attending VidCon! It’s the best place to get yourself out there. BookCon is also close/attainable for you since it’s in Chicago this year.

My pro tip for BU: demonstrate interest. A girl I know who had SAT scores below their average went to multiple info sessions & interacted w/ the admissions staff and got in–I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised. I don’t think there are any upcoming sessions in MN, but you can reach out to your regional admissions rep to get some info. Also, you may not need to do film a BU to help with YouTube… the digital journalism program may be a better fit. Just a thought! (the Film/TV department is very geared towards either film production or TV theory and/or screenwriting) Let me know if you have any BU specific questions!

@proudterrier Thanks for the advice. I definitely think you’re right on mentioning my booktube channel as an “adds color” element. I wish I could have just an extra hour to my day to focus on more YouTube-related things. I’ve always wanted to go to VidCon and BookCon, and I might have to swing it by my parents.
