Likely letter from Dartmouth = likely chance at HYPS??

<p>i got a feeling likely letters are sent to people who are likely to be admitted to other schools as well and dartmouth is trying to make an early contact/impression.</p>

“These letters go to truly outstanding applicants who emerge early in the process as clear admits,” Furstenberg said, but students not receiving likely letters are not necessarily less likely to be admitted.</p>

<p>According to Furstenberg, informing students of their acceptance early allows them more time to learn about Dartmouth and helps push the College to the front of the minds of the particularly talented applicants that receive the letters.

<p>Hey people…I would just like to share my joy…I got accepted to Darmouth today!! I agree that the early acceptance/likely letter really makes a great impression…I am looking at Darmouth a lot closer because of it…</p>

<p>As noted in another “likely” thread - My daughter didn’t get a likely last year from Dartmouth, but later got accepted there as well as Yale, Princeton, and Columbia. You just can’t tell from a likely or not, what it means about acceptance elsewhere.</p>
