Likely letters

I would question the veracity of Gladiator13. Joined Feb 9, last active Feb 9, 3 posts. More confirmation is needed to determine whether likely letters are actually being sent by Chicago this cycle.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t be. UChicago has been sending them for a while now. I’m really just hoping for people to start getting in, it makes me happy and it makes the wait more bearable as well!

A few people got likely letters and joined the accepted students page on FB. Not many people got them, or at least joined the group, and it doesn’t seem to be based on being a URM or anything. I’m sure most of the accepted students won’t be notified until the actual date, so don’t worry about it and good luck to all of you applying RD!

for @CanadianBrigade who was questioning my veracity , I only joined due to the fact that I saw this post and saw that no one else who had gotten a likely letter had replied. I was simply trying to help the people asking out. It’s because of people like this that I never created an account and commented and simply spectated. Also I’m so glad you only have one more post than me because that gives you all the authority.

@Gladiator13, I am glad you came out to clarify yourself. Your response to the question about receiving likely letters was appreciated. What made people curious about your response was not necessarily your lack of posts; to me, it’s the probabilities of your likely letter or any likely letters for that matter.

Chicago is not known for doing a lot of likely letters if any. They do that sparingly for special cases, usually for exceptional athletes (for D3 anyway), or exceptional academic achievements, etc. Your honesty about your “pretty normal” stats to have received the likely letter only increased the degree of curiosity. My take is that Chicago can do anything they want even it is deemed unconventional.

Nonetheless, congratulations on your likely letter and good luck.

Congrats @Gladiator13 Guess you must have a stunning essay then

@dokisame thanks so much! my essay was actually the part of my application that I was most proud of!

@Gladiator13‌ Congrats! And dang that is quick. Jan 9th is when I submitted my app

I received my likely letter today as well as a notification that I would be a President’s Scholar. I guess likely letters are being sent out in waves, because I didn’t receive the update last week when it seems like the earliest likely letters were being sent out.
