^^^Whoa, talk about going back to memory lane. My brother use to play Gino Vanelli in his Camaro on the mornings he could stand to be seen taking me to school.

It was once explained to me that women, in general, cannot maintain their voices as they age, like men can, due to estrogen loss. The larynx changes with menopause. So Ronstadt is really fighting a losing battle when you add the Parkinsons in on top of her age.

I saw Tony Bennett a couple of years ago, and am just amazed that (well, not only is he still standing and strutting around on the stage for that long) his voice has held up so well. Men definitely have the advantage when it comes to vocal health and age.

Linda told the nytimes she needed the $ from the memoir. Not being the songwriter of her songs she doesn’t get much in the way of royalty $.

The interview will be on the front page of the Sunday NY Times Arts and Leisure. it is accompanied online by a slide show with photos from the book. The shot of little Linda at the Rodeo is priceless.

When I was 8 or so my favorite album was Simple Dreams, I used to love her voice! I liked her covers of Karla Bonoff on Hasten Down the Wind but I like Bonoff’s originals much better. The people who used to play with her or collaborate with her were great, like Warren Zevon, Andrew Gold etc. I also used to think Linda was so pretty and wish I looked like her, of course she looks the complete opposite of me. :-)

I always think nowadays I would have loved to hear Kelly Clarkson sing with Rondstadt, or maybe at least cover some of the same songs.
