UPDATE – my child applied early action to her dad’s school and to another “reach” school that is near the top of her list. She was admitted to both. Yay! The reach she applied to is on the more expensive side, but we can still afford it if she gets in nowhere else.
She’s planning to apply to a few other reaches, including one she now considers her top choice, which she will apply in the second early decision round. These are a mix of affordable and possibly less affordable based on the NPCs. She’s not focused on any more safeties/likelies at this point with two acceptances in hand.

Two already admitted and affordable schools are now two safeties, so any additional applications can be limited only to schools she may prefer over those two schools.
