<p>I don’t see how this is possible. Are you saying that your brother’s finaid package went unchanged despite his move off-campus, and he’s using his grant to cover the cost of his apartment? That’s different from Vanderbilt paying for students to live off-campus, especially because Vandy requires undergrads to live on-campus unless they’re granted an exemption. If Vandy simply paid students’ rents, why wouldn’t everyone want to live off campus?</p>
<p>My brother has a very good scholarship at Vanderbilt and due to some circumstances with his housing situation, the housing dean allowed them to move off campus and Vanderbilt payed for the cost. He said that all the money that Vanderbilt was giving him for board now goes toward the least expensive apartment. He applied for Mayfield housing, did not want to live there after they got it, and somehow managed to get off campus.
I think he hit some stroke of luck as well!</p>
