LMU Orientation

"@Shrinkwrap - which sessions for parents do you highly recommend? Time is limited, so may only choose a few…what do you think? "

I’ll have to look over the agenda when I get home. They gave a copy of just about all the power point slides, and that has been really helpful.

What I’m thinking about right now is how all the student account stuff works, i.e. payment plans. I think the first payment for the 5 payment/smester plan may be coming up shortly.

I was also very pleased with the opportunity to lunch with the deans of the schools, and was blown away that they knew my sons name ( although I guess it wasn’t THAT hard to figure out). Son said he was pretty much told what to register for, inlcuding an 8 AM class two days a week, and classes Friday. No way my D ( a rising college senior) would have gone for that!. He doesn’t get too many choices. I am under the impression they hold classes for kids in the last sessions to make it fair.

The session on “everything else” (but academics) was helpful and entertaining. Stuff about meal plans, and points, and housing, and IT.

My tour was a waste, as was the stuff about finanical aid if you are not eligible for financial aid. But that session also included stuff about Jesuit philosophies and career planning.
