What are your stats, EC’s, and general LORs/essays like? @RidleyBCHS
@DiHydrogen2121 My stats contain:
-Strong ECs (VP of Club, Flag Football Runner-Up, Worked on a published humanities project which I presented at a city-wide event, Lots of Community Service including a trip to Camden, NJ)
-I’ve won multiple awards for my work in my school community, along with my academic success.
-I attend a private Jesuit High School ranked top 10 in the country for student-athletes.
-31 ACT (10 on the writing)
-I have a 4.5 YTD GPA weighted for senior year and I had a 4.2 weighted GPA last year. (Upward trend is present across all four years)
-I have highly regarded people who wrote my reqs and I connected my Jesuit HS to LMU in my essay which is on the stronger side in my opinion.
That’s pretty good! Where else have you applied?
@DiHydrogen2121 UF, USF (FL), UTampa, Eckerd, Rollins, Embry-Riddle, MCPHS, Loyola Chicago, USD, Umass Amherst, Alabama, and then LMU. I am still waiting on final decisions from USD, UF, and LMU but I was accepted to the rest of the schools above.
I applied to USF(CA), St. Mary’s College of California, University of the Pacific, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, San Jose State University, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly Pomona, University of Portland, Santa Clara University, Gonzaga University, Lewis & Clark College, Reed College, Franklin & Marshall College, Dickinson College, College of the Holy Cross, Fordham University, and then Loyola Marymount University.
I thought of applying to USC, UIUC, Occidental College, Georgetown University, SUNY Stony Brook, Texas A&M, UT Austin, Arizona State University, and Purdue University. But I didn’t really qualify for public out-of-state tuition for these schools or they were just pretty expensive in general.
I applied computer science / computer engineering to most of my public/private schools. Liberal arts colleges won’t really weigh major as much in admissions due to their holistic approach.
Good luck by the way. College admissions is a crapshoot to be honest.
@DiHydrogen2121 I, for sure appreciate that information. Computer science/engineering is a great major at this time. I am sure you’ll end up where you are supposed to be. Are you from CA? I am from MA.
Yeah, I’m from California. To be honest, California and Massachusetts, overall, have among the top public/private colleges and universities in the country combined.
@DiHydrogen2121 For sure. I would say MA has the strongest private schools in the country but the public schools are probably a bit better than average. CA has both great public and private options for sure. It’s interesting, the process, to see how they evaluate our different schools and assume the difficulties of each for everyone across the country. I was pretty surprised to be deferred from LMU given my acceptance to schools with lower acceptance rates but that is how it is. I am pretty certain I won’t hear anytime soon from LMU given that they just received my first Sem grades.
I gave LMU my midyear report last month, my AP Seminar digital portfolio (got a 3 on AP exam), and will work on creating a piano collage compilation (i’m like grade 3/4 on the piano) to showcase my talents that I could possibly bring to campus. I’m a cs/coen major but why not.
Anyone heard anything yet?
No… I got deferred for film production. Hopefully, the decisions will come out today!
Nope but hopefully today or at least this week…
If I recall correctly, back in December when EA stuff came out, it was 5 pm PST for Acceptences 6 pm PST for Defer and 7 Pm PST for denials. It was weird but made sense.
Well at least we know the timeframe for acceptances, waitlists, and denials. When in December did you get your deferral?
Thanks! I also remember those being released on a Tuesday; I was deferred from early action to regular decision as well. Maybe they’ll release the decisions for RD on a Tuesday as well…
I was deferred on Tuesday, December 17th at 9 pm EST.
It’s 5 o clock! Hope they roll around
???
6:52 PM PST was the first acceptance RD last year on 2-25.
Someone called the admission office on reddit. They said they are releasing early march in waves.
