LoA/Appointment/Nom

so it is completely impossible to get into WP without a nom?

Thanks again for the info

http://www.west-point.org/academy/malo-wa/educators/faqs.html

check this out tons of info on the waiting list up to buying boots before rday.

Nalcon: Yes you must have a nomination.

Read the USMA site material and the myriad of other published info. They will answer most of your questions.

Do y’all think the boots will be the black all leather ones even with the new ACU?

My son received his Letter of Assurance this week…has a Nom…basically waiting for DoDMERB clearance.

Letter also invites him to visit West Point…planning an overnight visit for next week.

DoDMERB clearance must be received by 15 April or the LOA will be withdrawn.

His Medical Exam was conducted by a contracted Civilian Doc and sent into Concorde a month ago, but has yet to show up as received on the DoDMERB web site.

Other than the DoDMERB web site, is there a phone number to call or a way to contact Concorde to make sure they haven’t lost the Exam paperwork?

The main number for DoDMERB is 719-333-3562

Just received a call from our congresswoman–my son has been appointed to the USMA Class of 2010. This was his 3rd try–is in his second year in college in ROTC. The PAE gave him trouble his first two tries. Persistence pays.

Congratulations! I admire your son’s persistence - there are few that have the dedication to reapply a 2nd time, much less a 3rd. Time to celebrate!!

Thank you Ann!

congratulations to your son! My son is still waiting and checking the mailbox.

I got “the call” from my congressman’s office today. I should be receiving an appointment package next week :D

Congratulations!

T-MAC! Dance to the music baby! Way to GO!! Now come down from the ceiling before you hurt yourself. Big Congrats to you! How much did you love that call? :)

mombo,

I’m don’t know how I missed this. Congratulations to your son and a cyber high five for his persistence.

TMac,

Great news and congratulations to you! Will you be accepting?

Thanks everyone.

Jamzmom — that had to be the best phone call I have ever received :)

momoftwins — Most likely. If I get a waiver from the Naval Academy for my vision, then Ill have an extremely difficult choice to make. I’m going on a USNA candidate weekend visit next week and then going on one at West Point in March. Hopefully I will have made up my mind after the visits.

My son recieved a call from our Congressman’s Office at school today.
That makes it two ( AFA & WP)!

Just a word of encouragement for those candidates that think their stats may not be good enough. My son has a 3.68 GPA, 4 on AP Bio, taking AP Chem and AP US History now. Ranked 90 in a class of 438.
SAT (CR 600, M 660, W 590, Essay 8) ACT (composite 31,English 30, Math 29, Reading 30, Science 33), Varsity Letters (2) CC & (3) Wrestling. Has never been a team captain or student gov… Non school leadership is strong.

He is leaning toward AFA.
If he chooses AFA over WP, there will be room for one more.
