Looking for recs for Liberal Arts Colleges in the OH/PA/MI/IN/NY area with a sporty vibe

To be in a city, look into Trinity (CT). If a wintry sporting atmosphere may be of interest, consider St. Lawrence.

I wouldn’t call it a safety for most.

I never suggested it was a safety, just answering the call for a LAC with a sporty vibe.

If you are open to Macalester, you might consider University of St. Thomas which is just a few blocks away in the same cute neighborhood. It is officially a small university due to a few grad programs, but its vibe is very undergraduate focused/LAC. Was previously D3 in MIAC conference, but recently went D1. Sporty vibe, not artsy or political. Solid education, especially in business, social work, psychology. ABET engineering. Very strong alumni networks that does extend beyond the Midwest. Great merit, admissions safety. Free cross registration with other nearby schools including Macalester.

Siena College or Union College?

My D25 isn’t sporty, but her friends are. They’re looking at Hobart and William Smith, St. Lawrence, and Nazareth as their “likelies.”

But the OP’s original request: "I am looking for some safety school LAC that have a more sporty vibe(think Denison) but a higher acceptance rate. Being in or near a city is a plus! "

Xavier and Dayton came to mind along with some of the other Ohio schools like a John Carroll. W&J is near Pittsburgh. Lots of athletes. Roger Goodell is a graduate.

These are great suggestions for midwestern schools that are a bit less selective. John Carroll and Xavier are both Jesuit schools which have a “sporty” vibe. JCU is D3 with lots of varsity, club and rec sport options. Xavier is D1 with nice club and rec options too.
