Looking to add some LACs to S24s application list at the last minute [4.0 GPA (4.67 weighted for Florida), 1400 SAT]

Could you expand upon the similarities as I am familiar with all of the schools but do not see them as similar. TIA

LACs with business programs and Greek life, a unique niche I would say; also strong Southern vibes for Rhodes and Trinity, and all three at or near significant cities, same as Furman. Furman and Denison are former Baptist schools, no longer affiliated with the Baptist Church; Rhodes and Trinity U are both still affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. All of them are about the same size (around 2000), have similar class sizes and a strong commitment to athletics, even if not Div I as Furman is. Denison and Furman used to recruit together, don’t know if they still do. Our friends in Texas see Trinity U and Rhodes as comparables, and those two and Furman are well known and very highly regarded throughout the South, with Denison having more of a national reputation (especially Midwest and Northeast).

I agree as far as Trinity and Rhodes. I live in Texas and there is significant overlap at our school between kids applying to Trinity and Rhodes. I think the urban, largish LAC vibe that frequently gives good merit aid. We have only visited Trinity though.

I wanted to add that on our tour, the Trinity guide said that Trinity isn’t really affiliated with the Presbyterian Church anymore. :woman_shrugging: Another person I know thought it was still, so I googled a bit, and couldn’t find a definitive answer. The guide said there were no required religion classes or anything like that, so I don’t know if it would be noticeable if they are still affiliated in some way.

ETA: as far as Greek life at Trinity, per our tour guide they don’t have any national fraternities or sororities, only local ones. The guide felt that cut down on some of the stereotypical Greek behavior and didn’t feel like it had a negative impact on campus life (he was not in one). I know a lot of adults who went there and speak highly of their time there. I don’t know many current students there.

My D23 is at Trinity, they’re not at all connected with the Presbyterian church any more. No required religion classes, my daughter says most kids are not religious, a few attend large non denominational churches nearby.

She also considered and was accepted to Furman, and maybe would have Denison had she been willing to look colder  Frankly, Rhodes is in just too dangerous an area for her (or us) to consider. Trinity is in a great neighborhood and she loves S.A.

D23 is in the process of rushing, it doesn’t sound like the sororities are all that competitive with each other, the frats seem a little more traditionally fratty  although they don’t have houses so it’s nothing like where I went to school (W&L). They are just local frats and sororities and they have an unusual extended rush that goes through the whole Fall semester. D23 is kind of whatever about rushing and many of her friends are not involved at all.

I wouldn’t say Trinity is southern, I’d say it’s Texan. Furman is southern. Trinity is definitely nerdier feeling than Furman, but maybe not as nerdy as Rhodes. Trinity has excellent D3 sports but attendance isn’t as great as my cheerleader daughter would prefer.

Happy to answer any specific TU questions if anyone has any.
