Low income student, immigrant first gen. Looking for exciting intellectual environment. [FL, 3.9/1400, physics & philosophy]

I think you have as good a shot at Swarthmore as any I’ve seen this year… but of course it’s such a selective college that getting in is unpredictable.
UMiami probably isn’t the vibe you’re looking for if Swarthmore is your ideal.
Perhaps Carleton, UChicago, Wesleyan? I’d add Vassar and Connecticut College too. Seconding Hamilton and Grinnell.
Wondering if Holy Cross would be of interest.
Seconding St Olaf as an “easier to get into, meet need, strong in science” college – apply EA; register with “join our mailing list” and click on the emails they send you, opening the links you find interesting.
In Florida, you have Wilkes Honors College that may work. UF, FSU, UCF Honors, too (apply to any public FL college’s honors college). However BF isn’t enough to cover cost of attendance and room&board is pretty expensive.
Which fly-ins, beside Swarthmore’s, have you been invited to?
