Lowest SAT scores admitted

See, I agree with that idea that the SAT is just one more way to attempt at measuring that potential for academic improvement. I mean, obviously the SAT is quite imperfect in measuring one’s academic ability, but I believe that there does need to be some sort of standardized measuring stick, per se, to hold applicants against, especially as grade inflation becomes crazier and crazier.

That said, spirit will outweigh stats at any school worth its salt, and I think that UChicago follows this doctrine.

Just one more point- I think that it doesn’t matter so much what your overall SAT score is; rather, I think that the individual sections are (or should be) looked at more carefully in comparison with the student. In my case, for example, I’m very reading/writing oriented and I made that clear on the rest of my app, and so it means more for me that I have a 760 CR/ 770 writing score, both of which are fine scores. But, my low, 610 in Math shouldn’t really mean as much, since I’m not exactly a mathematician. Now, if an intended math major had that score, maybe that would be a bit of a red flag to the adcom, but my 610 probably didn’t hurt me as much.

Hopefully, that made at least some sense; I’m tired :)
