old threads revive again!! Happy new year!

As the year circles around, a sweet new year to all!

Be among those who cherish truth above ease,
And whose prayers are a shaft of light in the darkness that, otherwise, would envelop us.
Be the same within and without.
Aspire to be loving, compassionate, humane and hopeful.
Become the prayer for goodness your lips have uttered.
Become Israel, exemplar of the Highest, and serve all that is great within you.

A sweet New Year to all my Jewish friends! Hard to believe my daughter is a senior! I haven’t posted much lately but have felt connected for the past 8 years since my oldest was looking at colleges…

Happy New Year to all my Jewish CC friends, from a fallen-away Catholic! The holiday is working out well for us, as S1 has tomorrow, his 13th birthday, off from school.

I wish I was eating dinner at some of your houses!

Best wishes from a non-Jewish friend here. Reading robyrm2’s entry, it reminds me that many of the Jewish prayers (is that verse a prayer?) and songs I have seen encourage one to be a better person, or to work for a better world. These writings have inspired and enriched my life, so thank you.

It is a meditation from the Gates of Remembrance prayer book. I think it is really inspiring and I send it out every year to all the young people I know… of all ages.

^^^ It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I can’t find it. Do you have a link?

Mis-wrote… sorry. Gates Of Repentance. New Union Prayerbooks for the Days of Awe… for Rosh Hashanah.

I agree that the prayer robyrm2 posted is inspiring. Thank you.

Too late to edit my earlier post, but I should have said, “I wish I were…”

One of my favorites, Robrym. Thanks for posting. It’s the closest I’ll get to a prayer book this year.

L’shana tova to all!

L’shana tova to all. May we all have happy, healthy, and peaceful new years.

^^^What she said.

I wish all a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

Thank you for reviving this thread!

Wishing all CC friends a sweet and healthy and happy year.

The house is starting to smell “holiday” as my children always called it. Chicken soup is simmering; our traditional honey orange chicken is marinating. Challah is rising.

A happy, healthy year to all!

L’ Shana Tovah to all!

So strange to be celebrating the same week as Labor Day. I can only remember one other time when the holiday fell so early.

The shopping is all done, the brisket is cooked… tomorrow is the day for all the rest of the side dishes. Tomorrow night we are a foursome with a roast chicken, couscous, melon, green veggies as it is just DH and I along with the 2 D’s and dinner is late after services… Thursday we have the larger gathering and the turkey goes into the oven when we come home from morning services.

I’ll just repeat what I said 2 years ago in post #33. L’shana tova to everyone.

L’Shana tova u’metukah to all!

I am so pleased we are doing the big event tomorrow at MIL. Made gefilte fish, and am bringing the challah since she has a hard time getting them in her neighborhood, and some aspargus. Easy and no housecleaning required!
