Great post @teriwtt! I won’t reiterate what you said but agree with you! I wear leggings and tunics, friends my age wear them and my 15+ year older friends do also. They look great and want to still look stylish. It works for us.
I love the Sundance catalog and I along with sabaray am giving you all the blame
Someone here other than MOWC’s one outfit wears LuLaRoe - and I’d love to hear from them. They should disregard any comments on this thread that would make them feel juvenile for wearing their line.
I am curious where the name came from. I’ve already seen one reference to them being nicknamed “Lulu” - which of course, is Lululemon’s nickname. Wonder if “LuLaRoe” was somehow purposeful? Not saying they are the same type of clothing, but clearly Lululemon IS a popular brand/trend.
I think everyone needs a little fun spot in their life where they WOULD feel comfortable wearing this type of clothing! Be it the grocery store, the movie theater or your couch at home - for some of us (me), wearing something fun like this at an appropriate time for ME, is WAY better than dressing up in fancy clothes and heels!
^^ Bravo. I know- if this stuff is so popular and people are fighting over the leggings (apparently the item you are in search of is called the “unicorn” and people charge big prices on ebay for popular patterns), where are all the CC wearers? I’m really interested in what items folks like and what aren’t as stylish.
I currently have friends selling Plunder Jewelry, Premier jewelry, Rodan + Fields, Beauty Counter, etc.
P.S. I think LulaRoe is referred to as LuLa (with an “a”) as opposed to LuLu, the exercise wear for rich giraffes.
I couldn’t even get the map to work though to pinpoint sales people in my community. I was just curious to see how many were around. I could pinpoint my general area but not access individual reps.
@Consolation well…I live in New England, and these lula clothes are being sold by everyone who used to sell Thirty One, Rowan and Fields, and Scentsy. The sellers say to layer when the weather gets colder…and of course to use the leggings as well.
That was my impression…mostly short sleeves on dresses. I did notice a longish sweater I think but maybe that belongs to the seller. The thread is timely as I just picked up a pair of leggings for a sister for a birthday present. She sleeps in leggings and the Lularoe ones are very soft and pajama-like, I was suprised when I touched them. It will be interesting to hear from her if they hold up through washings. They aren’t very expensive so I might get a pair for myself for long underwear/sleeping this winter.
I’ll know more after I go to the “live” party tonight. There are sweaters and wraps for layering. My Carly dress is light weight with short sleeves, but was perfect for wearing a blazer or sweater over it. The back is longer than the front, so it looks really cute with leggings and ankle boots.
@thumper1 , I’ve never heard of any of those brands either!
Do stores sell these things, or is it all house parties? I wouldn’t mind trying their leggings–I’d like to get away from all pants all the time–but I don’t want to have to go to a house party to get them.
We get snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. I would buy more if they gave me wine! Just sayin’…
Those lines are only sold at online parties or home parties. Sometimes community craft fairs and gift events, too.
Rodan + Fields is a fairly pricey skin care line which is actually really good except they try to hook you into this auto-renewal thing and stuff comes at you fast and furious until you throw up your hands and cancel the whole thing. I use a few of their products but not the whole regimen by any means!
Thirty One was totally not for me. It’s sort of a Vera Bradley type line of bags, monogrammed items and lunch boxes which really appeal to the “mommy crowd” as we say in our neighborhood. Whenever I order Thirty One (wine was always involved) and it arrives, I found myself having a “what was I thinking?” moment. It’s just not my style, although I do like my big pool bag, in which you could fit a small child.
I refuse to host parties for anyone under any circumstances. Not in my home. Not online. I’ll go to parties. I’ll buy online. Host- nope.
@Consolation the brands I listed are all house party sales things. This is just the latest of them. I’m guessing that something else will come along to replace this one also at some point.
I think these fill a need for some people. The problem I had in my neck of the woods, is the seller had a FB group that she included me in…which was fine until I started getting post after post about what others were buying, catalog sales, home parties, pics of what others were buying, etc. SO…I just deleted myself from the group. I figure if I REALLY want something, I can give this gal a call or send a message, and she will gladly take my money. But I got tired of the endless…well…spam.
The “groups” aren’t too active on my FB…the Lularoe hostess was a D of a friend…I still think the clothes appeal to the young mom set. I see mostly pictures of pregnant ladies in my FB wearing the dresses (which must be loose). I’m also not too much of a fan of the uneven hemlines and at least one of the dresses has the longer back…which makes sense if you are going to wear with leggings. I will wear a Title 9 shorter dress over my turtleneck and print ski long underwear when I get home from skiing and don’t want to strip down but it’s not a style I typically wear in public. I do think it’s a heck of a lot better look than what we had when we were pregnant in the 80s and had to dress for work.
Yes, I can’t get used to the fitted maternity clothes I see these days. It so goes against the huge things I wore whenI was pregnant. Some are cut but some are just so form fitting I don’t find them to be in great taste, personally.
I know there are some folks who love the “party” marketing, but I’m not a fan. I have graciously declined most invitations. The one I attended for a clothing party for Cabi, I ended up buying an overprice pair of slacks and sweater. I plan to ignore future invitations again.
The Carly dress is loose but I wear it belted. The other dresses are fitted. The Cassie pencil skirt is slim but very stretchy. The pictures I’m seeing in the groups seem to be mainly larger women- I would say at least XL and up. A few mediums, perhaps.
I was the one who mentioned this line in the other thread. I am curious what the “party” will be like. I too am not a huge fan of the sell at home parties although I have found some jewelry I love from Silpada (years ago) and Stella&Dot, and some housewares from Pampered Chef.
