My (likely) major: Linguistics

I really respect math majors because I wish I could do it. I love math, but only pure math, so that ix nays a lot of careers for me, and I don’t think I’d be good teaching math, I could never be confident enough in my skills. I think if I worked really, really, horribly hard I could do a math major, but even when I become good enough to get an A, low or not, in a course, and I’m usually eventually able to, I’m not confident in my skills, and I never would be.

I also really respect Classics majors because it seems like they must honestly like it and I know some 2000 kids who take Latin and about 1900 of them hate it. It’s not that I think Greek or Latin are exceedingly difficult at higher levels (if they are, please correct me. I’ve never studied Greek, but that’s been my experience with Latin and the experience of my friends who went farther with it) it’s just that the Classics don’t have the greatest use and they don’t get the greatest respect, so I think it’s cool. And probably a bit because my sister should be a Classics major but is sticking with Econ/IR since she’s too afraid to tell our parents otherwise.
