I have solar nails (acrylic) which are the “pink and white” with no polish. It lasts a month and always looks great. Indestructible. I feel like it adds to the semi-professional image I should have… Winds up being cheaper than a weekly manicure and I destroy manicures and pick at my nails unless I have the acrylics. Pedicures once a month during warm weather months- less often in winter.

I’ve been getting a spa pedicure about once a month for several years. Very relaxing and sooo worth every penny. I will often have them cut and file my finger nails while I’m there but rarely get polish because it generally starts chipping within a few days. I did try acrylic nails, once, years ago but am not willing to do the regular maintenance to keep them going. Plus, I hated the fact that they had to file down your nail bed in order to put them on. I also got a shellac manicure recently. It looked great but decided not to do it again because of the maintenance. Going in once a month for a pedicure is enough for me. Fortunately, my nail salon is right down the street and doesn’t require an appointment. Not sure I would do it as often if it wasn’t so convenient.

I do the shellac every two weeks or so. It goes on just like nail polish and is perfect for growing out your own nails or for a trip or special occasion, even for those who don’t want to do it a regular basis. They really do usually last a full two weeks without a scratch, but if you are especially hard on your hands or do not wear gloves in water, they are not totally impossible to chip. They are also more limited in the available colors. Yes to pedicures, too - I do regular for that, not the shellac.
